Had such a rewarding day teaching at Brompton on Saturday: 14 novice bakers went away with masses of loaves, buns and soda bread and not a failure among them. I managed to cook a plastic tray quite dramatically but it all added to the theatre of the day.

It’s the one course I teach that draws in the men just as much as the women. Maybe there is potential for romance there…..it’s rather a sensual process after all.

I love my bread teaching days – students get so excited – It’s magic!

I urge anyone to try it either at the cookery school or with me in my kitchen.
